Drive and implement activities to standardize process cost structure. Support site management by identifying key improvement priorities. Facilitate key improvement activities. Enhance the financial performance of business unit by reducing operating costs and eliminating waste.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support multi-functional teams to develop, execute and complete selected improvement projects, hands on teamwork approach to planning and problem solving using lean/six-sigma tools.
• Apply the following basic process improvement tools within the six sigma DMAIC improvement model: Project Charter, Process Map, Pareto Chart, Trend Chart, Fishbone Diagram, 5-Why Analysis, Histogram, SPC, FMEA, Benchmarking, Brainstorming, 5S, Correlation Analysis, Error-proofing Capability Studies, Corrective Action Matrix, MSA, etc.
• Track results for Lean activities completed on a periodic basis, monitoring the gains to avoid erosion over time.
• Support the Planning, Coordination and Execution of Kaizen Events. Assist with training and coaching on the use of Lean.
• Able to support multiple projects simultaneously and balance activities to ensure projects are completed on time.
• Support process engineers with Value Stream Maps. Establish cost models for all tube products and determine major cost contributors.
• Observe, listen and ask questions to understand the situation / problems and be supportive and non-judgmental at all times. Spend >50% of the time on the plant floor.
• Manage all other duties as assigned including and not limited to support other sites with Lean tools and methods, promoting Best Practices.
• Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position.
• Comply and follow all procedures within the company policy.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• IE Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree
• 5 years of industry experience as Industrial or Lean Engineer
• Lean Six Sigma Green or higher Belt Certification preferred.
• Project and facilitation experience in a matrix environment.
• Hands on experience in Lean Manufacturing or Business improvement in high mix businesses.
• Must have good data collection analytical and problem-solving skills.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write technical and project reports, business correspondence, and process documentation. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, peers, clients, customers, and the general public.
