Manufacturing Manager

This position will direct and coordinate activities of all personnel in the manufacturing departments in Menlo Park, CA facility. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Meeting all manufacturing output and budget goals.
  • Implementation and use of shop floor / finite capacity planning systems. 
  • Setting up and maintaining manufacturing capital / personnel budgets.
  • Ensure that company policies and procedures and work instructions are being followed.
  • Manage associate performance by ensuring that they are trained to perform their duties and then holding them accountable for their performance.
  • Identify areas for improvement, especially as they pertain to scrap, downtime, and other manufacturing waste.
  • Work with the Engineering team to:
    • Improve processes
    • Identify and develop new capabilities
  • Work with the QA team to increase operator accountability for meeting specifications.
  • Collect and analyze data to monitor performance Vs objectives
  • Participate in LEAN initiatives; Drive 5S process and organize KAIZEN improvement events
  • Ensure timely completion of payroll processing on a bi-weekly basis.

MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

All manufacturing personnel in the Menlo Park, CA facility.  Also responsible for production planning .

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

BS or BA degree required.

  • Experience in MRP systems - QAD / MFG Pro preferred.
  • Experience in payroll processing - knowledge of ADP preferred.
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations.
  • Experience with shop floor / finite capacity planning systems.
  • APICS certification desired.
  • 5-10 years management experience in a medical device or metals manufacturing environment.
  • Computer literacy in: MS Word, Access, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Complete understanding of time standards, routers and capacity planning theory.
  • Working knowledge of medical device GMP’s and/or ISO-9001 or ISO-13485.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret production work instructions, routers and specifications.    Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from operators and to upper management and auditors.  Spanish skills language skills not required but would be an asset.
